Long Time No See!!!

Well hello my fellow ballerinas!! Sorry for the silence over here!! I’m still trying to get out of my post-Disney funk. I’m sure some of you get this!! Oh how I miss that warm sunshine!! I’ve been so busy since we’ve returned from vacation. Between sorting my pin collection out (man, did I do good!!), organizing my Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cards (yes, I found another thing to obsess over), keeping up with ballet classes (we are hard at work!!), and awaiting my good friend’s little baby girl to arrive…..things have been busy!!!! So let’s break this down….

1. My super awesome pin collection.
Thanks to my husband and my mom (they got me a crazy amount of pins to trade while in the parks), I was a trading ninja!! I’ve never traded this many pins before. I was able to complete or near complete so many collections. I was so excited. I even upgraded my pin storage binder! I decided to just get one of the nice Disney ones in the park with some of our reward points. It only ended up costing about $40! So not bad. And one of the most awesome things to come from this was that I got to share this experience with my inlaws, mainly my father-in-law. He was very helpful and excited to help me search for pins. As a serious guitar collector, he understood my “need to find this exact pin”. Sharing my hobby with him was very fun. He even wore a pin lanyard with his own special guitar mickey pin on it that my mom gave him for Christmas.

2. Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom card collection.
Disney, why oh why must you keep coming up with things I feel the need to collect?!?!? Let me explain what this SotMK thing is all about. Actually, I will post a separate blog post about this. Lol.

3. Ballet classes.
Wowzer. That pretty much sums it up! Hah! While gone at Disney I missed 4 classes. I would have missed 2 more, but our teacher was out sick the first week I was gone. They added more choreography to our recital dances which I had to catch up on. I’m pretty quick with picking up new choreo so I wasn’t too nervous. Our Ballet 1/2 dance is coming along nicely. I’m not overly stressed with this dance, I feel comfortable. Our Ballet 2 dance has its intense moments where I have to just push through it. There’s a few turn combos that are still giving me a tough time. Luckily we had a make up class yesterday though where we worked a lot on our turns. This was much needed, for me at least. I feel a lot more confident now that I had some extra time to pick up the new moves. Our Ballet 3 class is my most challenging, as it should be. There are a lot of turns. One of our first sets is a piqué, fouetté, attitude. Yikes!! I’m actually not doing so completely horrible at them as I first thought I would be. Heck, a month or two ago I couldn’t even get my fouetté. So I’m pleased with myself. I just have to keep pushing hard and doing my best. I know I can do all of this. I also ordered a new pair of pointe shoes while I was gone. They’re still my beloved Gaynor Mindens, just tweaked the sizing. I kept a size 11 but went down to a medium width instead of wide. I also took a shot in the dark and got a Supple shank instead of hard. I know, you’re probably thinking I’m crazy!! But they actually have worked out well so far. My feet felt strong in them. And I definitely felt that my feet worked harder. I’m still waiting to sell my other ones on eBay. Sigh. I’m just so glad these new ones work. 🙂

4. My good friend is having a baby!!
My good friend is due with her second baby any day now! She was actually due last Tuesday, but her little girl is holding out!! I cannot wait to meet her. So my nannying days have been mostly spent hanging out with her and her little boy (the little boy I watch is his cousin). We’ve been trying to walk this baby out every day! We went to the zoo and the park! Nothing. I know little baby girl will come out when she is good and ready! But I’m still soooo super excited to meet her.

Well I hope everyone has had a good February so far. I know I have! I actually went running yesterday too! I only ran 2 miles, but hey, it’s something. I’m looking forward to running more. I’m hoping it will help with my cardio for dance and keep my body moving on my off dance days. I’ll be running in my first 5k this May! Have any of you ran before? Done a 5k or a marathon?! I’d love to hear about it!

Have a great day loves 🙂

Christmas Gifts

Thought I would post some pictures of the wonderful gifts I received this Christmas. I’m so very grateful that I received what I did. I know there are people out there that are less fortunate. I only can hope that they too were able to have a nice Christmas. I hope you all had a good holiday as well!!

Here are the Disney gifts I received. I love them all. I’m excited to finally have some Disney board games to play!! The keepsake Disney pin that my inlaws gave to me was really awesome. My husband gave me a really unique Disney Cinderella Snow Globe. It’s so beautiful. Both globes light up and the large globe has a blower in it that blows the snow around. It’s really amazing! It was such a thoughtful gift. My husband and my mom gave me a ton of Disney pins for trading in the parks. I have so many I don’t know what to do with them all! Hah!!

My mom also gave me 2 Disney necklace sets. They are so cute! I can’t wait to wear them down in the parks!! She also gave me new super thick awesome comfy socks. I always have them on in the winter. She gave me a cute scarf and long socks to use to stretch and warm up in for ballet! My mom also gave a set of ornaments. They are super adorable. So perfect!! My brother got me a new ballet leotard, but left it back home in PA. Silly brother. Lol.

My BFF got me some awesome gifts too. The shirt is perfect. For those that don’t know me….I’m horribly terrified of spiders. Like hate them with a passion. She also got me a new Vera purse, a ballet ornament, one of the Disney board games pictured above, and a really pretty necklace. The saying on the necklace is the perfect way of expressing our friendship. It means so much to me.

I love every single gift I received this year. You can definitely tell how much of a Disney freak I am now!! Almost all my gifts relate to that! Hah!! It was so nice to see the family for Christmas dinner. My mom and brother were in from PA, and we went over to my inlaws house for gifts and dinner. They have a small family too. There was 11 of us total! So it was a fun time!

The Long Awaited Envelope

20121226-144533.jpg

With all the holiday busyness this past weekend I forgot to post this!! These pretty babies arrived in the mail and that only means one thing!!!!!

It’s less than 45 days until Disney. 26 days to be exact!! Woooo hooooo!!! I cannot freakin wait. It’s going to be awesome. So now that Christmas is over, I can officially start getting things ready for our trip. I got a boat load of Disney pins for Christmas to use for trading in the parks. Score! I just need to figure out which snacks we are packing, clothing, and most importantly….getting our Disney Dream Reward Dollars card together. That puppy will allow me some serious shopping while down there. So pumped.

I hope everyone had a great holiday week with their families and friends. I know I did!! I will be posting some of my gifts on here soon! Lots of Disney games and other awesome gifts 🙂

Sunday Project

This lovely Sunday was spent doing a variety of things!! My mom and I went to Jo-Ann fabrics to pick out fabric and find items to create my own Disney pin binder. I ended up buying a bunch of pre-cut pieces of felt that were adhesive on one side. I then got sturdy card stock paper and adhered the felt to that. Punch holes in the side to place in a binder and voila!! A pin binder!! It holds the pins pretty well. I noticed the backs come off every now and then. But compared to the expensive ones online ($40-$60) mine will do!! I was able to complete it for around $25-$30.

My husband helped me make my binder, we walked the dog, and then raked the leaves up from the yard. It was so nice out today!! Now I will be spending the rest of the evening hanging out with the husband, folding laundry, and watching the Walking Dead. Awesome freaking show if you’ve never seen it. I love me some zombies!!!

I’m so excited for ballet tomorrow!!! And very excited for Thanksgiving. And the amazing food. Yum!!

On the Hunt

Since I will be returning to the wonderful world of Disney in January, the search for new Trading Pins has began. I have a zillion pins, ok not really, but I do have a lot! I have enough to fill two lanyards and some in the pouch. I have various collections that I have been working on since I first started trading pins in 2009. What I usually do to prepare for my trips is sort through the pins I have and see what pins I need to finish certain collections. I then begin searching on eBay and Amazon for people that might have these pins. I try to make sure I am buying pins from legitimate people (people who either live in Florida or are obvious collectors). I never buy any pins from over seas in fear that they make be fake. I also buy a bulk order of pins to trade while in the parks. Sometimes in buying these bulk orders I get a pin or two that I actually needed!! When that package arrives it’s like Christmas morning! I get so excited to see what pins I received. After I open the package I then sort out any pins that I needed or any that I knew I wanted to start the collection of. After that I am left with the pins I will be trading with while in Disney! I wear the ones I want to trade on my lanyard and keep the ones I don’t in my pin pouch. For a 10 day trip like the one we’ll be taking in January, I usually like to take down at least 25-30 pins to trade.

I absolutely love pin trading while in the parks. One of my favorite memories was when it had started to rain and my husband and I were in Hollywood Studios. We happened to be near the big Sorcerer’s hat, so we ducked under there for cover. I eyed a pin I really wanted and had been searching for for the past 2 years. I asked the guy (he was an older teenager to young adult, like me) if I could see his pins and he asked to see mine. In the process, another person came up and asked to see his pins. While, little to my knowledge this other person was eying up the same pin I wanted!! I told him how I had been searching for this pin for the past 2 years and I think he somewhat felt bad (and secretly thought I was cute or something) because he let me have it!! Score! But then the kid that had it wanted to trade me for my coveted name pin. I stumbled across this pin online. It is an older pin depicting the monorail with the gang on it with my name on it. I had to have it obviously. The kid had wanted it because it was his girlfriend’s name. Uh, sorry mister! I will not give up my prized name pin for some girl. Once I told him that one wasn’t up for trading, he still traded me for the beloved pin I had searched so long for.
Gosh, don’t you just love pin trading!?!?

Here’s the set of pins. Mickey, the one of the left, is the one I traded for.
