Most people that know me, know that I am a huge Disney fanatic. I essentially talk about it every day. Just ask my husband!! I collect Disney pins, which I trade when I’m at the parks. I even have a little booklet thing that I now keep them all in!! I have at least 2 lanyards worth of good pins. And then there are my “trading pins” to get more “good pins”. It’s quite complicated. There are thousands upon thousands of different types of pins and pin sets. I just find a set I like and then work to get all the pins in that set!! Once you try it you become hooked!! I also like to do puzzles, which leads me to the reason for this post. I stumbled across 2 cute Disney puzzles at a Bargain Outlet store (of all places). It was around Christmas time and I thought, “hey, these would make good gifts for me!!” So naturally, I scooped up the 2 puzzles and took them home with me!! My husband laughed when I explained why I got them, but was also relieved to have 2 less gifts he had to think of on his own (how considerate of me!). Little did I know the obsession that was to follow. After I opened them on Christmas and put the first one together, I figured there had to be more out there. I was right!! After a little researching, I found out that there was a whole collection!! The artist’s name is Tim Rogerson. He took Disney favorites, and classics, and painted them into artsy looking paintings!! The paintings were so cool that they were made into puzzles!! The painting style reminds me of Picasso with just a little twist of his own “Rogerson” style. So this only meant one thing. I HAD to obtain every puzzle in this collection! I went straight to eBay and Amazon.com. I quickly found many of the puzzles I needed at very reasonable prices compared to what I paid for the first 2 at the bargain store, which was around $9. I found out in my research that I was missing one puzzle, a Donald Duck one. Welllllll after searching and searching I could not find anywhere that had it. I knew it existed, I just couldn’t find one in stock anywhere. Realizing that this one puzzle must be rare or was maybe one of the first ones released, I was crushed. I had this gut feeling that my collection would be forever incomplete. Fast forward 6 months later and I am putting together one of the last puzzles. Just for the heck of it I decided to search again for this rare puzzle. I remember scrolling down the Amazon page and seeing a picture of that box. I couldn’t believe it. Could this really be it?? How can it be?? Not even looking at the price, I clicked on the link for it. It was indeed the sought after Donald Duck puzzle!!!!! And when I saw the price……$76!!!!!!!!!……I could have cried. I cannot possibly spend $76 plus $6 shipping for one stinking puzzle!!!! But before I could finish the thought, I was clicking through the pages until I got to the, “Thank you for your order!” page!!! What did I just do?!?! My husband is going to kill me!!! As I waited for him to come home from work, I was on some sort of adrenaline high. I simply could not believe that within 10 minutes not only had I found this puzzle, but I had bought it too!! I was ecstatic!! After he got home, I explained what I did and he wasn’t upset!!! He was just as excited as I was!! He knew how long I had been searching for it and was happy to see me so happy. He wasn’t thrilled that I spent $80 on it, but in the end he was ok with it.
The Donald Duck puzzle is still sealed in the box, unopened. I may not ever open it. Who knows?! All I know is that I’m just so happy I was able to get it. It may not matter to most people, but it matters to me!
I will eventually post pictures on another post of all the other puzzles that are completed!! 🙂
